Default Why do quite a few Christians say Wicca is a cult? After all christianity too does no

Just because only few people, follow it does it become a cult?

How come Christians have personal relationship with unseen sky daddy is NOT a cult?
@No chance
How come it is evil...if you say some spirituality is evil, you must be able to prove yours..But you just have belief in your god

Define "quite a few Christians". I've seen nothing of the sort on this site.

Sure, some say you are devil-worshipers and whatnot, but the most valid charge I see is that of "poser". Whatever you can do to shock mommy and daddy. I don't think I have ever seen a post in which Wicca was called a "cult".

Please post one for our perusal.

I save that designation for the Moonies and those Heaven's Gate goofballs,

Buzzzz. That wasn't your original question. Don't move the goalposts on us. The question is whether or not people refer to you as a cult, not whether or not you are "evil".

Who knows? It is far from a cult, far from evil, has nothing to do with Satan (very few of us believe evil and hell exists anyway) yet Christians will still claim these things... It's odd.

Some use the word "cult" for anything that isn't their brand of Christianity. It's not an accurate use of the word. They're just trying to be pejorative.

Academically, a *part* of every religion is its cult. But most people have no reason to use the word in that way.

I usually won't call something a cult unless it includes shunning members who have left, living in compounds and all dressing the same.

To many people, the basic definition of a cult is "any religion other than my own."

Look up the definition of a cult, now, knowing what a cult is, which is more likely a cult, Christianity or Wicca?

Each group or coven of Wicca followers varies, but none are to require to follow exactly as the group.

Wicca and many other Pagan beliefs are growing. It is not only a few followers but thousands, maybe millions now. It has nothing to do with evil nor Satan nor demons as others would like to believe, but just another path to spiritual connectedness.

To me, many of the Christian denominations such as Pentacostal, JW, Mormon, Holiness, and full gospel baptists seem more of a cult to me than any pagan belief. No offense to those who are followers of those paths, that is just my observation.

Technically, all religions are cults.

Don't play along with the re-definition of cult that those on the extreme right of the political spectrum use. Frankly, most Wiccans are better than that.

Many religions could be considered a cult by the definition of cult.

But ill-informed Christians who think Wicca is evil just because it isn't their religion will misinform by using words like "Satanism" and "cult."

Personally I just ignore it. They're entitled to their beliefs, I'm entitled to mine.

What Labgrrl said.

"Cult" is first defined as:

1: formal religious veneration : worship
2: a system of religious beliefs and ritual; also : its body of adherents

Wicca would fall under the above definitions.

A cult is a religion in which people blindly follow a single leader (a human, not a god, etc.), so Wicca is obviously not a cult.
