Decide which one is more important to you: bogus magic or your boyfriend.

I think you probably mean "wary". Don't waste your time, please. Wicca will lead you places you don't want to go. The occult is not a good place to investigate.

Your boyfriend wants the best for you, I'm sure. Don't do it.

No christian who reads his/her Bible will deny that there is such thing as witchcraft. There is a spirit world to be tapped into. Studying Witchcraft is a sin because you are rebelling against God. You are doing just as Satan did, seeking power that isn't yours. When you tap into the spirit world it is dangerous because you never know what you are going get. If you want to do that, it is your business. But I will tell you this, if your boyfriend is a practicing Christian, it is his duty to break it off with you. The Bible is clear that Christians not get themselves involved in relationships with people who hold beliefs contrary to their own.

Stay away from Wicca, it's a worship of the Devil. It is supported by demons.
It's very dangerous. You will be miserable for the rest of your life.
Don't go anywhere near it. You'll end up a psychotic mess.
Best Wishes

when some one dose not understand things they are afraid of it, maybe he thinks Wicca is black magic and bad he just needs to understand it better, it's a form of religion like any other one out there but it's been around a whole lot longer, just talk to him and ask him what makes him weary about the Wicca religion good luck

You can explain to him that its not devil worship, that we dint even believe in the devil. My hubby is a Christian and I respect that so I go out into our field to cast my circles and pray and I just really don't talk to him about it. Its a personal choice what you believe and the literature even says not to discuss it with people because they wont understand

Tell him you'll put a spell on his ass if he don't go along with it!!!

No seriously though, just tell him its a little like bewitched and then twitch your nose.

Besides that explain to him its fine because you will be studying WHITE magic and arts and that he has no reason to worry because you will be careful with it. Maybe tell him that its not some crazy thing like what you see in a movie and that its a safe magic.

If hes a good BF I'm sure you can make him see that's its safe as i guess that will be his only worry. Oh and don't listen to the ones that say you should repent for your sins! Wicca is not evil and people should respect your int rests in Wicca as well as what ever religion you are. Anyhow religion really shouldn't come into it. My friends are into Wicca and on paper they are Christian and Church Of England.

Hope this answer made you smile and is of some help! xx

Paul

Family and friends are often frightened because the only information they possess is christian propaganda about devil worship and demon possession. If this is the case you can enlighten him. On the other hand if he is just trying to be controlling and dictate what your religious beliefs and practices are allowed to be, then you need to decide which is more important, your freedom, or your controlling boyfriend. In my experience, a person who loves you does not rule you, control you, or demand change from you.

I assume that your boyfriend is Christian, and this is where he gets his aversion to your study of Wicca. Its not unusual. Most likely he has some preconceived notion of what Wicca is that is a mix of Christian propaganda, Hollywood special effects, and old ghost stories.

My suggestion to study, learn for yourself what Wicca is, then educate him on what it is...and what it is not. If he insists that you should not follow this path, or otherwise tries to control your decision about this I think your best bet would be to find a new boyfriend. Someone that loves you will be accepting.

If you're called to the worship of the gods, which is what Wicca is, then no mortal person, especially a mortal person who you're only somewhat committed to (you said boyfriend, not fiance, or husband) has the right to stop you.

This could be a major danger sign, frankly, a sign that this guy is interested in controlling you and your thoughts, and your walk with the gods.

It could be that he, or you, have bad information on Wicca. A trip to http://wicca.timerift.net can fix that, but if he's willing to believe the worst about you, you need to reconsider this whole boyfriend thing, anyways.

As shown by some of your answers, some Christians are so threatened by our worship of our gods that they will lie, cheat, threaten and even violate the rules of conduct they agreed to uphold (making them oath breakers, too) to try to pull you away from the gods. These people are pretty low, and it is possible your boyfriend has been poisoned by them.

You need to do what's right for you. Caving into his fears just limits your life. He needs to manage his own fears.

Studying it and learning about it are excellent ways to get an idea if this is a good fit for you. Share what you learn along the way with him. When he discovered its about respecting nature and natural elements, and not about popular false stereotypes like sacrificing babies and orgies, he will be more relaxed with the concepts.

Besides, just because you are studying it doesn't mean for sure you are converting. As you learn more about it you may decide this isn't what works for you. Either way, you would get to learn about other people and their belief systems. In my mind, that's always a good thing. The more we understand each other, the easier it is to be accepting and tolerant, which is what is needed for more people in the world.

Just my thoughts

I'm a 3rd generation pagan. I find it hard to understand why in this time, people still have reservations about paganism. We condone violent crimes by on of the largest religious corporations, but have a hard time embracing nature? what sense does that make?

Anyway, faith is something that is a part of me and if someone doesn't accept it, then it is as if they don't accept me.

Try the book, "When someone you love is Wiccan".

The more he knows the more he may understand and accept.

Totally agreed with LabGrrl.

Um, Mary, Wicca hasn't been around a lot longer than other religions, Wicca is only about 60 - 70 years old - it is a modern religion that worships the gods of old, perhaps that is where you are confused.

First of all, studying a religion doesn't automatically mean converting to it - it means learning more about it. Perhaps the both of you should consider why it is he feels threatened by you educating yourself?

You may also want to pick up a copy of the book, "When Someone You Love is Wiccan" by Carl McColman http://www.amazon.com/When-Someone-You-Love-Wiccan/dp/1564146227

It's a book written for those who don't know much about or understand what Wicca actually is and what it is not - it is set up in an easy to read Q&A format.

Explain to him what you're doing. Like explain to him that it's a common, but hidden religion. Let him know you're just studying it for now and will be for a few months. It's not official and your not initiated yet.

He probably doesn't know a lot about it so study up, and include him a little when you are.

If you're interested in witchcraft then he will really get worried because many people have a closed mind on the subject.

Include him and let him know that you are simply studying and researching.
