What is the best book for Wicca beginners?

I am very interested in studying Wicca. What is the best book (or couple of books) for beginners? I'm short on cash so i don't need a whole book list. For now, I would just like one or two good books. Any advice?

go to a public library for one thing, unless you have a thing for owning books, and look on line there has got to be stuff on line you can read.

The "Kama Sutra".

Spiral Dance is supposed to be one of the best beginning books for Wicca. It's by Star Hawk and the one you will probably find in bookstores is about $17-$25 depending on which bookstore you go to.

2)Get the book: Wicca, a Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham (Amazon.com used books is a great resource)
3)Avoid Silver Ravenwolf, DJ Conway and most Llewellyn books
4)Do NOT pay for lessons over the Internet. You can?t ask for references. Do NOT give out personal information to anyone over the Internet. Get a PO Box.

6)Learn and keep learning about various paths in paganism.
7)get the book: "Drawing Down the Moon" by Margo Adler (an older book that's a little dated, especially concerning Asatru but a good resource) - it gives an overview on a lot of pagan traditions.
8)I?m not a good resource beyond these suggestions. I haven?t been a Wiccan since 1992 and I left Heathenism a year ago.

Drawing Down the Moon: Witches, Druids, Goddess-Worshippers, and Other Pagans in America Today (Compass) by Margot Adler

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner (Includes Author's Book of Shadows) by Scott Cunningham

Book of Shadows: A Modern Woman's Journey into the Wisdom of Witchcraft and the Magic of the Goddess by Phyllis W. Curott

Any books by Scott Cunningham are great.

I recommend Thea Sabin's Wicca for Beginners as the best first book to read. It covers the absolute foundations without confusing the issue with rituals and other details that you really don't need when first just learning what Wicca is about.

Scott Cunningham also writes a couple good books for beginners, which I recommend you read after Sabin's book.

Finally, I would suggest Deborah Lipp's Elements of Ritual as a fourth book.
