"Drawing Down The Moon" is a great book, but a little bit dated. Four candles, Green symbolizing Earth, Blue for Water, Red for Fire, and White or Yellow for Air. These are the four elements. Some use a white candle for the Goddess in the center. Thats why yellow is substituted on a corner. The vessels for the elements are cup, bowl (or plate), wand and Athene. The Athene does NOT have to be sharp. It is used to "cut" the four elements. It must be double edged and have a center point.
At this point, I would suggest you join a Wiccan/Pagan chat group. There are a few on yahoo groups and playgroups.
You should just get a lot of different color candles but if you are a beginner i would snuggest that you make an alter first with white candles and incense and other magical items with a journal and a book of shadows and the book i used to start my Wicca practice is The inner temple of witchcraft by Christopher Penczak ans he have different levels from there they will help you along the way.
Please I implore you not to get started in that. please keep reading. I care so much for you. i don't know you and i don't care if its stupid of me to care, but i do. i felt compelled to say this now cause i said it at the end of this and you may not get that far. you may stop reading right now. please keep reading, it only takes a minute or two. my sister was involved for a few years in it. NO good came of it. absolutely no good. i some basics about Wicca, and it sounds harmless at first but it isn't. if you believe that threes power behind it then please believe it is the work of Satan. i know you will say it has nothing to do with Satan and it was around before Christianity and Jesus, but it wasn't around before God, and saying it isn't about Satan is the biggest lie ever told. its Satan's lie. what better way to GE people to join if they believe its not from Satan, cause Satan is such a big turn off for people, but if its not fro the devil then its ok. but it involves demons, witches, warlocks. powers not meant to be in human hands. my sis claimed that she cut her wrist because a rival witch put a spell on her to do it. her boyfriend jumped from a moving car because of possession! it is a worship of earth and other things, but its not what we humans are meant to worship. We are meant to worship God. thats why we humans have this longing to worship something, be a part of something big, and thats God. please, please dont. ok find someone who is a Christian or catholic, ans ask them this? "do you regret following Jesus?" and find a person practicing wicca, ask them to be honest, if being wiccan is the BEST decision they've ever made. hands down better than anything. if dont give you a convincing answer that should tell you something. I guarantee a Christian will not tell you they regret following Jesus. I DONT! i wish i can get my sister on her. she will tell you its not good. she got out of it and has a degree in financial education and doing great, shes free of drugs, not saying you do, or will fall into it. it just happens to some people. There are so many better things out there. another thing. i believe its real demonic forces at work with wicca, i cannot say it enough, its terrible stuff. ive seen first hand what it does to you. it involves demons, which should be anyone's frist clue that it involves satan, the devil as well. alot of people laugh at the idea of the devil nowadays but he is not a force to be reckon with. do not invite him or any spiritual thing into your life. his only intent is to harm you. if you believe there are opposites in the world, and that there is pure good, then there must be pure evil. the devilis pure evil and God, Jesus, is pure good. i know you might think my words suck, and others will say i shouldn't tell others what to do, and im crazy, but how crazy is believing that interacting with demons and things is a good idea? thats the ultimate lie. i kow first hand what it does to people and its real! the spiritual world is real and evil is at work in this world here on earth. please, at the very least drop getting involved with wicca. if you have friends who are involved and they want you to do it, its only so they can use you. trust me! getting involed with spirits is the quickest way to get friends to turn on each other, especially if you let them (the demons/spirits) into your life. just considering it is opening the door for satan to ruin your life. and he will laugh! if you read this you will probably get strong feelings or convictions that im full of crap and should bug off. or others tell you that im full of it. that is satan trying to get you to do it! he wants you to. but if you feel that i'm making sense and should forget wicca, thats God pulling on your heart in the right direction. think about it. Listen to God. He wants only good for you. He does not deceive, He does not use you to do evil. if you believe God exists and He is ultimate love than why would you want ot get involved with something that deals with lies, trickery, demons, and such? please. I am pleading, begging, i am hurting inside knowing that you are considering. please let me know what you're thinking, why you want to get involved. please share with me. i want to hear from you and your side. consider all other dangerous sports, lol just not wicca. please. i am praying for you. i know that sickens people to have someone pray for them, but please. i truly care. i truly do.
You're putting the cart before the horse. You should only buy stuff when you've come to the conclusion that you need a certain thing. The fact that you are asking us what to buy indicates you are not there yet.
Wicca is a religion, not a collectible game. To start off in Wicca, you need to study. Study, study study. As you better understand what we're about, it will become clearer what you might or might not want to buy.
Some places to start:

First off you need to get an education and possibly some hands on training. Witchvox at http://www.witchvox.com/ is a good place to start. Here you will gain knowledge through fellowship with other of like mind and knowledge through the countless articles posted. Find those near you who are reputable and knowledgeable. Also stay away from those who are playing Wicca if you are serious about the religion and the craft, they will only slow you down and/or mislead you.
If this is not enough, one could look into getting on line training through the Sacred Mists at http://www.sacredmists.com/, and Witch School at http://www.witchschool.com/, or OZ Wicca at http://www.ozwicca.com/, both are pretty decent for learning the Craft on the Web though like any site they have some issues. Also if you are close enough to an active group that specializes in education and development like the SCWF try and join them even if it?s on a limited capacity.
Read all the books you can the good ones as well as the bad ones. I suggest you get your hands on a few quality books like Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin and/or The Circle Within by Dianne Sylvan. Both of these books are very good reading and both will give you some deeper insight to the Craft and how it relates to you. Also you cannot go wrong with anything by Scott Cunningham. Teen books like Elements of Witchcraft: Natural Magick for Teens by Ellen Dugan, and Teen Witch by Silver Ravenwolf is also good. But neither is completely accurate, but they will help you out.
But in the end it is best to do some studying and research first before you start buying tools like a chalice, Athene or even expendables like candles or sage incense. Also, ultimately, study, study and then study some more. Find all you can and definitely cross reference whenever possible, this way you can get the best out of all you learn and hopefully understand it in order to put it to practical application.
I hope my blip has helped some.
Blessed Be

The world is changing and crisis grips the nations: economic uncertainty, wars, the threat of terrorism... where can we find hope in these uncertain times? As distressing as it seems, there is a crisis even more urgent: the fact that death awaits us all. When we die, we will all stand before the Judge of the Universe. How will you do?
Ever lied, stolen, or looked with lust? Ever taken God's name in vain or failed to put Him first? If you have broken even one of these laws, God sees you as a lawbreaker. Picture yourself in a courtroom guilty of many serious crimes. The Judge's sentence is: A million dollar fine, or life in prison. You are unable to pay the fine, so the guard begins to lead you away. Suddenly, someone you don't even know steps in and pays your fine in full. That means you are free to go! That is what Jesus did for you 2000 years ago. He took your punishment upon himself by taking God's wrath on the cross. Then he rose from the grave, defeating death.
Repent (turn from sin) and put your trust in Jesus Christ to save you. God will grant you eternal life. Don't wait until tomorrow... You may not have another day.
