*Wiccans and don't use an apostrophe to pluralize. sorry grammar Nazi in me coming out, but my thoughts on it is that there are going to be changes that start on that day, part of them are going to be because of what the Mayans predicted (not the end of the world but a repeat of the beginning) and part because too many people will be surprised by the world not ending and react to that
additional: I'll also be celebrating Yule like Aster
And I'll be celebrating Yule, just like the other two who answered that - besides, just because Mayans said the world is going to end that day doesn't mean it's going to; remember how freaked out people were about Y2K? Well, if Mayans predicted that 2012 was the end, why did people worry about the year 2000? Anywho, the world didn't end then and I don't think it's going to be ending in 2012- what if the Mayans got tired of writing their calendar and were like "Okay, that's good, we'll update it later". Have you ever written a calendar thousands of years in advance?
Unremarkable. I am not afraid of a calendar. I am not afraid of the conspiracy nonsense that has gotten propagated on the web. When the world ends, it will come from some physical cause, whether natural or man made. It can't be prophesied (although it might be predicted, if it comes from something like an asteroid). I am so, so tired of hearing people play Chicken Little about 2012.
