I believe in Jesus, I'm not much of a bible reader, I know they say Wicca ain't about the devil, but i think its just tricking everyone into thinking that, so they do that stuff, and now my woman is getting into that stuff, reading about it, that star with the circle is what i hate, anyway, i think, Wicca is a religion, ID much about it right now, just doing research as well, but if anyone knows what it says in the good book about this subject, or any suggestions on telling her that its wrong, i think I'm gonna have to burn them books and bury the ashes and piss on it.
thanks, practicing black magic or whatever vicunas do, is not in the bible??
didn't mean to put down your Wicca religion, but, isn't magic involved? spells, and what not... I'm still trying learn about this...."religion" so give me a break, and as for those pedobears, their time will come when they will be judged.
so practing magic is not wrong??
as for my other question, read carefully, or maybe use a magic spell to understand it
Wicca is a religion. How would you like it if I claimed your religion was "practicing black magic or whatever"?
Wicca is about 70 years old. The Bible doesn't mention it. Like the Bible doesn't mention cyberspace, or television, or subways, or anything else that came to be after the Bible was written.
But man, if you hate a religion based on a symbol (a symbol, I might add, that Christianity used long before there was a Wicca, and for much longer than Wicca's been around) you're pretty shallow, and I hope the person who call 'your woman' sees it and leaves you before you find some other fault to be shallow about.
Man. Based on the news I could say something like "diddling kids, or whatever you Christians do," but that would be a backhanded way of spreading rumors. Of course, unlike the allegations about Wicca there is evidence for that one about Christianity, but hey, I hear you aren't ALL pedophiles. Howsabout, instead of spreading rumors like a troll you ASK the woman?
Edit: Yeah, good luck with that, kid. Have fun with the false witness, and 'spraining that to YOUR god.
Edit: Here's a magic spell for you: I waved my magic wand and turned you into a troll. ...And it's retroactive!
First of all, calm down! You need an open mind.
Wicca is an earth based religion, worship ping a God and a Goddess. It is not Satanic because Wiccans do not believe in the Christian Satan. Seperate religion there.
It is the belief that everything has a soul. The tree you lean against, the rock you skip across the lake, even the gravel beneath your feet.
It is also the belief in the "three fold law". Everything you do returns threefold to you now or in a new life, whether good or bad.
Some Wiccan's practice Magick, not magic. It is done in the privacy of your own home or within a coven. It is what I guess you can call "Church" for Wiccans. This is how we pray. It is not to cast spells per SE, it is to empower ourselves with the energy of the universe.
The Internet is a great place to start. Check out WNW.pagansunite.com or even look up Wicca under Wikipedia.
The bible doesn't say anything about Wicca, as Wicca is a fairly recent phenomenon. For some it does involve use of magic but so do many of the mundane acts we do every day and not even think about.
I honestly don't understand the Christian fear of stars. Was Jesus himself not born under a star? And even if the star you fear is in cased in a circle, circles are merely symbolic of cycle. I don't understand what's so scary about that? If any Christian could elaborate and help me to understand (other than this silly idea that it's a symbol of the devil) I'd appreciate it.
I also don't understand this silly nonsense Christians believe about the devil "tricking everyone into thinking that" Wicca and other occult practices are nothing evil. That makes about as much sense as me saying that the devil is tricking you into thinking Christianity is the right and only way. How can you guarantee that that isn't the case?? Because it's written in the bible? You people are always saying Satan is tricky...how are you so sure HE didn't write the bible???
Wicca was founded in the 1940/50s. The Old Testament was definitely finished by 200 BCE and the the rest of it was compiled and either legitimized or thrown out by 500 CE. The people writing the Bible were never exposed to Wicca as it didn't exist yet, therefore the Bible has nothing to say on the subject.
Wicca and witchcraft are two different things. Wicca is a religion, witchcraft is a craft. Some Wiccans are witches but not all, and there are lots of witches of other or no religions. Furthermore, those who practice magic generally acknowledge that it doesn't come in co lours. Magic is a neutral force. You can do mean things with it or nice things with it, but you're using the same energies regardless. If someone practices magic, chances are they don't think it's a bad thing. The Christian god seems to have a problem with it and if you're a Christian you have every right to abstain from practicing witchcraft yourself. However, you have no right to push your beliefs about it on other people.
Don't refer to your girlfriend as 'your woman'. She's not yours, she doesn't belong to you. If you disagree with her religious beliefs break up with her so she can go be with someone a little more open-minded and respectful of women. You have no right to destroy her property regardless of how you feel about the books.
First, Wicca is a 20Th century religion, so it's not mentioned in the Bible.
Second, Wicca is polytheistic, which *does* make it contrary to the monotheistic message of Christianity - but ALL religions are at least somewhat contrary to Christianity. If they weren't, they'd be Christianity.
Third, no Wicca is not about spells.
Fourth, the issue of magic in the Bible is a highly complex one. The Bible condemns various specific forms of magic such as divination. It also condemns "sorcery," sometimes translated as "witchcraft," which in the time it was written meant malevolent magic, not magic in general as those terms are sometimes used today.
Fifth, there's no such thing as "black magic." There's just magic. Black magic means nothing more than "magic that is considered taboo," which obviously is an incredibly subjective term.
Sixth, why do you hate a symbol? It's just a shape, and one that has had a variety of meanings over thousands foe years, most of them positive, and some of them even Christian. Hating a symbol is just plain ignorant.
Seventh, Wicca has nothing to do with the Devil. The Devil is part of YOUR religion, not ours.
Let me get this straight. You believe in Jesus, but you don't read the bible. How the heck can you know what Jesus was about if you never read the book that explains what he said and did. Do you just go by what other people tell you? And if you don't care what the bible says about your own religion why the heck do you care what it might say about another?
I don't know why you would hate a symbol that historically was used both by the Hebrews to represent the Pentateuch (1st five books of the old testament) and by early Christians. The five points of the star represented the five wounds of Christ and because it could be drawn with a continuous line it also was said to represent the Alpha and the Omega. Constantine who was directly responsible for the rise of Christianity from a smallish cult to the official religion of most of Europe used the five pointed star in his seal to symbolize his conversion to Christianity. In addition many early Christian churches are adorned with pentagrams. (See the link below for a picture of the famous stained glass window in the Amiens Cathedral)
Finally it is quite plain that you have no real understanding of magic. Magic as practiced by Wiccans is simply the magic of ritual. The same magic of ritual that most Christians practice when they show up on Sunday to participate in their Bread and Wine ritual often called the Eucharist or Holy Communion depending on the denomination. As to spells, Wicca is not about spells. Spells fall into the category of witchcraft or ceremonial magic. This type of magic is the magic of prayer and Christians use this type of magic all of the time without any worry at all that it might be black or white, rainbow colored, or forbidden. I'm not accusing Christians of hypocrisy, just ignorance and fear mongering.
To sum this all up. Wicca wasn't around when the bible was assembled, so it isn't mentioned. Telling "your" woman that it's wrong can only be backed up by your own religious bigotry and disrespecting her by demanding that she change her religious beliefs to match yours just because you say so could backfire on you. Especially if she's not one of those women who are brow beaten into subjugation just yet.
Wiccans don't believe in the devil or any Christian concepts like Jesus, savior, sin, hell, heaven, etc. We have nothing against Christians believing in these things; but we are simply non-Christian.
Wicca is not about practicing magic; we just don't see anything wrong with it, so it is allowed. We don't see magic as hocks-pocus though, it is rooted in psychology and nature, like meditating on a blue candle to calm down, or making an herbal tea to heal a sore throat.
Wicca is a religion, like any other religion, the focus is your relationship with the Higher Power and how you live your life. Wiccans believe in taking personal responsibility for yourself and trying to be good to others and find balance and harmony in life.
The Bible doesn't say anything about Wicca because Wicca is a fairly modern religion; but it does clearly discourage other religions or belief in other Gods.
So you, because you believe in the Bible, might think Wicca is wrong; but Wiccans don't believe in the Bible or that it is the word of God, so we don't really focus our religion on what you or your Bible believe... that doesn't make either Christians or Wiccans bad people... we all got to follow what we believe, we don't have to be disrespectful of each other.
As for that star you hate-- it was a Christian symbol at one time? (It stood for the 5 wounds of Christ until about the 17Th or 18Th century).
If you really want to have a peaceful relationship, let your girlfriend read her books and follow her own path. She may not end up interested in Wicca after she learns about it. But burning and pissing on books is pretty ridiculous... why not just talk... or break up if you feel you and your lady don't share a world vision that you feel is important, because pee on her books all you want, it can't change how she thinks. Good luck to both of you.
Wicca is not all about magic and some of don't practice spells and such at all. Being Wiccan and being a witch are two different things that can coincide if one chooses.
Second, why are you so weirded out by the religious symbol? It is a shape, get over yourself. It has spiritual meaning to us just as your cross does to you, and guess what, that is also a shape.
Third, the Bible says nothing about Wicca because Wicca didn't exist when the Bible was written.
Fourth, there is no such thing as white or black magic. Magic is a tool to be used by the user, just like any other tool it can be destructive or productive.
Fifth, if she is not pushing her religion onto you then stop pushing your religion onto her, if you love her then respect her and her beliefs.
Wicca is not the original Pagan works... These days Wicca is pretty much just like the other wannabes. Wannabe vampires, wannabe werewolves, etc....
Wicca can be traced back to some Pagan cultures, but these original pagan traditions are completely lost. Wicca is nothing but a modernized version of Pagan.
-----
Modern Wicca is not about evil. Its a very peaceful religion in which they believe all your mistakes will back to haunt you. They believe in being connected to nature and in being kind. Its not satanism....
