Why do people think Wicca is Satanic?

I'm 13 and I've been a Wiccan for a while now, along with my two other friends. Some people say that I'm Satanic, but I could care less about the Devil. I just want to know why people just assume all Wiccan's are Satanic, and If you are one of the people who actually do think we are Satanic, please leave a comment saying why. Cause I'm starting to get really annoyed by this stuff...

@Nikias -- Thats like saying you cant be a Christian until your 18. Its rude. I actually AM a Wiccan, and I AM in a Coven. Thank you very much.

@Folusho -- It can't just be Satanic without having a reason to be (which its not). Can you give a good reason that it is? I don't even think you know anything about Wicca so do us all a favor and do your research before you judge please. M'kay?
oh, and you CAN be a Wiccan even if you don't have a Coven. I have no idea where you pulled that from but its totally not true. Covens are not required, they are recommended for Wiccans, so they can practice with others.

Some people try to demonize all religions other than their own, claiming that not worship ping their God is akin to being tempted away and hence worship ping the Devil.

Also, some people associate Wicca with witchcraft, which is associated with devil worship ever since the witch hunts.

Both views are ridiculous, I think. When practiced properly, no religion or belief is worse than any other.

The same reason people think Islam and atheism are satanic. Ignorance.

Relatedly you're not a Wicca. You can't be a Wicca without joining a coven you can't join a coven if you're only 13. Sorry.

It isn't. The people who claim it is are just ignorant, to be honest.

I feel your pain, at your age i was told the same thing, and I will tell you the single truth i have learned:

EVERYTHING and ANYONE who is an individual and thinks for themselves has been called Satanic by the right wing agenda and the ignorant religious people of the world. Blacks were called evil, so were Jews, Muslims, sharks, snakes, dancing, movies- you name it, it has been called satanic by the church at some point, so just smile and nod and say: "Get an education, you'll feel differently."

Understand their point of view. In their religious teachings they are to believe that worship of anything other than the one true god IS satanic. They are taught that Satan disguises himself as these other gods to deceive us into believing him. Now this is not what we believe obviously but it is where they are coming from. try to understand all sides of this before ranting at us.

people think that vicunas are satanic because it is a rumor started by the catholic church (later adopted by other benches of Christianity, then other religions) during the witch trials. it was a way for close minded people to be able to demoralize other people quickly. also it was used to spread religion. ignorant people still believe this rumor because their church has brainwashed them to believe that we worship their negative beliefs instead of our own. if they knew anything about Wicca at all they would know that we dint believe in hell of its ruler, the devil. they would also realize that we are a part of one of the most accepting religions. another thing they would realize is that all of their own religious holidays are based on Wicca traditions. Christmas and yule; Halloween and sambaing; Easter and ostara... etc. dont listen to them, they are ignorant fools.
