Default What do you think of witchcraft?

I'm a pagan myself and I am NOT a Satanist. I wont take offense from your answers as long as you dint bash Paganism. I'm just curious about peoples' opinions.

It's very convincing at times, but I don't believe in it. Disney killed it for me.

I'm atheist. I really do not have an opinion on witchcraft, which is odd b/c I have an opinion on everything (or else I wouldn't be on here). I think of it kind of like a hobby?

I think it is cool riding on the broom. <just kidding>

To each their own. As long as you don't hurt anyone else with your belief either by word or deed you are alright in my books. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to practice it if you want.

I mostly think people do Wicca, pagan, Celtic, and satanism (I realize they are not synonymous so don't go preaching that at me) for attention. They like to impress or intimidate people with their "uniqueness". They are just as flaky as every other religion if not more so.

I've always found the concepts of magic and witchcraft "cool" from a fantasy perspective. While I don't believe in them as being part the physical world, I've spent a fair amount of time researching symbols, references, and other oddities for use in fantasy role-playing games and the RPG computer game genre.

I wish it weren't just fantasy though ... that's rock!

PS: I'm neither religious nor spiritual, but I also do not identify myself with the label of "atheist" ... ancient Taoist philosophy best resembles my conceptions.

As an atheist, I think that witchcraft is as misguided and non-sensual as Christianity or Islam.

However, pagans seem to be more tolerant, less violent, and generally more harmonious than adherents of most of the major religions, so I can't be too critical of how you live your lives, just the fact that you are still seeking approval from supernatural sources.

I think it is woefully misunderstood. It probably has a lot to offer and much wisdom, just like any other religion.

i have nothing bad to say about Paganism: it is the root of all! my husband and i have decided that if we have a girl we will name her Pagan... she'd be the beginning! i don't understand completely what you mean by witchcraft... black magi ck... white... i don't think anything good can come from trying to control or change a situation or another person... i believe that you can open someones eyes or heart to a situation... which is not control, or change... but still allows for general free will. it's like giving someone all of the facts about something and they do what they wish with the info given... white magi ck.

I am also pagan and am very open to all beliefs its is a very spiritual religion that does not require you to follow all guidelines. it teaches you to be open to all points of view to look at problems with a level mind.

I am Pagan also, and I have found a peace and harmony in my life that Christianity didn't give me. I think that 'witchcraft' is a wonderful way to attune yourself with the Goddess and God and the nature that is all around us!

Depends on what version of witchcraft you are referring to. I was raised in witchcraft, it has been handed down throughout our family history.

By all means of traditional witchcraft, Wicca is NOT witchcraft, Wiccans have no right to call themselves witches, they don't know a tenth of what it means or involves to be a true witch. Wicca combines beliefs and practices from many, many Pagan cultures with myths and folklore.

Being pagan as well I see nothing wrong in it. I came from a highly christian background and for some reason could not find harmony and peace with myself in that religion. I found paganism when I was sixteen and with help, love and support from my family, never looked back on Christianity. They are all still christian and thankfully dint look down on me because of my beliefs. Its been ten happy harmony filled years and I hope personally everyone can find what I found in my faith in theirs.

Jayne Doe has the same girl baby name as me !!!! She rocks !!!!

I am a witch. I think the craft is beautiful and once you start the journey of the witch, you see the world and it's beauty a lot more clearly, and are also much more aware that out wonderful earth needs us to take a lot more care of it for the survival of the generations who come after us. Witchcraft is the most beautiful gift I was ever given.
