How many of you believe in Witchcraft, Wiccan, etc...?
I'm not here to judge. I'm not a "witch". I was just reading about The Salem Witch Trials, and I kinda thought it was int resting. Anyone with lots of details 10+ points
I once was a skeptic on that stuff before, but it turns out i actually met a couple of witches. They introduced me to it, and the stuff they do really exist. You see alto of stuff is based on energy, like what goes around comes around exist. When it comes back around is because you sent off negative energy.
I practice Witchcraft. I started out with Wicca about 10 years ago, then moved on from there to focus more on Witchcraft. I retained a lot of Wiccan beliefs but dismissed the rest (particularly their ethics and belief in a threefold law).
The details are depend ant on what you want to know.
The Salem Witch trials didn't actually involve any real Witches. The people who died were innocents who were accused of Witchcraft with no real evidence other than wild accusations and paranoia.
Wicca is a fairly recent religion, focusing on building and maintaining a relationship with the divine (of which they believe in a Goddess and God; some sects of Wicca place more focus on the Goddess, but still believe in both). Wicca is a separate practice from Witchcraft. Witchcraft is a practice that can be incorporated into Wicca if the individual Wiccan so chooses to do so (as can anyone of any religion). Witchcraft has no need of deities to be successfully practiced. Combining Witchcraft into Wicca creates a complimentary practice. I say this because Wicca openly accepts Witchcraft, rather than dismissing it as something it's not.
Witches who don't practice Wicca don't adhere to their form of ethics. They either create their own form of ethics and adhere to that, and/or follow the ethics set by their tradition of Witchcraft. Just because there are a few Wiccans out there who practice Witchcraft doesn't mean all Witches practice Wicca.
Witchcraft does involve the use of spells, however those spells are nothing what popular media like to portray them as. There are no instantaneous materialization of things, sparkly lights or poofs of smoke when casting, no demons or devils to vanquish...just a study and utilization of herbs, stones and various types of divination to help one make decisions that are otherwise difficult for them to make.
One becomes either a Witch or Wiccan through study only. There are some who are misinformed as to believe that one becomes a Witch only through some sort of blood line, but this is untrue. It takes study to learn a skill and Witchcraft is no different. If one is not will ling to do any sort of work, then Witchcraft is not for them.
I'm not sure what else I can say...if you have any other questions, you may email me and I can do my best to answer them.
I don't know what you mean by "believe"...I mean, I can look in the mirror at any time.
Witchcraft is a craft of witchery. Some people say the word "Witch" means to bend, or wise or some other such thing. I don't know for sure, but I know that I have experienced changes which I attribute to the Craft. It might just be that the rituals we do alter the chemical makeup of our bodies with all the jumping and singing and incense, but it seems to have an affect. Scientific or metaphysical, my experiences say it does *something*.
As for Wicca, well, that's a priestly caste of Paganism in my tradition. We require an initiation (again, in my tradition) and the initiation confers on one the role of priest/Essa and Witch (Wicca). It's roughly equivalent to the ordination of Catholic priests or investiture of Deacons. I don't think there's anything here to disbelieve, unless it's the idea that Wicca is not valid as a religion...it's certainly an extant practice.
What happened at Salem had pretty much nothing to do with modern Witchcraft or Paganism. The only person who was likely practicing any kind of Craft was Tibitua, and she was more likely practicing something from the African Diaspora.
If you want details, I would read the secret, to give you a general primer, and then read the kibbling.
I go about it with the understanding that magi ck is a subjective science, meaning it cannot be put into the objective box most scientists try to put it in.
Well, I know I am a pagan. And I know that there definitely are witches out there! I'm still discovering my own path.. basically I can classify it as an earth-based spirituality. I have performed a few spells, healing and protection only. I have stayed clear of Wicca only because I myself do not really feel drawn to it. It seems to be too organized for me and also.. I don't believe in using magi ck to alter the natural course of events, which seems to be something that many Wiccans practice. I'm not saying it's wrong I'm just saying that it's not for me.
You're really asking about three different things. Wicca is a modern polytheistic religion. Modern witchcraft is a magical practice. What people were being accused of at Salem, what can be called "historical witchcraft," never really existed. Historical witchcraft was distinctly malevolent. It was the accusation of using magic to harm others. Frequently, although not always, it also involved devotion to Satan.
People were punished in Salem because of hysteria. The people thought a horrible evil had entered their town, and they attempted to purge themselves of it. Unfortunately, the people they accused were all entirely innocent, other than perhaps the slave Tituba.
What happened at Salem has zero to do with modern Wiccans and witches.
they we rent witches but ac cussed of it because
a- they wouldn't sleep with powerful men
or
b- someone wanted what they had
so accuse them of crafting and they'd be killed or jailed you can take their land, money and get revenge for being told no. And mainly it was Christians and the clergy who did this. Not so christian like now are they?
Wicca is a religion, witchcraft is a practice. Some Wiccans practice witchcraft, some do not. Some people who practice witchcraft are not Wiccans. Two different things.
I am a Witch and practice the craft..I do not consider myself as Wicca because I do not follow all they believe. I do adhere to the three fold law I have seen it come back to many people. I am Earth based use spells, herbs, oils, gemstones and crystals to heal, attract, protect, release, manifest and change all for the betterment of all involved. I do honor and invoke certain deities as well. I do not do craft work that violates the 3 fold law or interferes with an others free will.
