Default How is witchcraft or sorcery connected to religion?

Can you give me sources(a website maybe) for the connection of such practices to religion?

in order to believe in them you have to be pretty uneducated. or mentally ill, both aren't based in reality, and are subject to ones imagination

i cant give you specific sources, only to say if you do research it your going to find that they are very much the same concepts with the marked difference between say Christianity, and Wicca for example, being that in paganism one seeks to accomplish their own will manipulating spiritual forces, in contrast to seeking Gods will with the laws God has set forth ... the lines can easily blur with many 'God' beliefs also seeking to manipulate forces or Gods will through prayer etc, which is in error to truly following God IMO .. a true 'God' belief is going to label the misuse of spiritual power as 'rebellious' or 'lawless' ..

The two origins of religion are animism and sympathetic magi ck. Sympathetic magi ck can be considered the first kind of witchcraft ever. People would draw a picture of something they wanted to happen, like a spell. Many cave drawings like this can be found. If they wanted a herd of animals to come they would draw the herd. Then they would draw a singled out animal being killed. This is basically a spell for them to catch an animal for food, clothes, or whatever else. Most ancient cultures were hunter/gatherers.

Email me with questions.

In truth witchcraft and sorcery are not connected to religion since you don't need religion, deities nor CHRISTIAN demons/devils to do. It is CHRISTIAN religions that connect PAGAN religions to witchcraft. A Witch can be ANY or NO religion he or she wants, even Christianity.

Scripture warn us against having anything at all to do with it. The Lord knows that Satan is a powerful being and we also know from His Word, the Bible, that Satan has the power to perform that which appears to be a miracle and thereby deceive the masses. In Old Testament times, the Lord had given the instruction to the children of Israel that if a witch or a sorcerer was even found to be among them, then that person was to be put to death as they are in league with Satan and he has them under his control as he uses that person to destroy the lives of others. If you have a Bible concordance handy, which I don't have at the moment, just look up the related words like witch, sorcerer, etc and you will find several references to people who performed evil works by the power of Satan and the first mention of it in Scripture was when Moses went up before Pharaoh and was confronted by the two evil court magicians. Make no mistake about the power of Satan as he is a deadly powerful being and has possibly billions of demon followers here on earth who are active continually bringing misery and destruction into peoples lives. He is also active in some churches as the Bible tells us that he has transformed himself into a minister of light. may I suggest that you brush up on Scripture firstly so that you can be aware of his traps. In short, the connection between Christianity and witchcraft is that the two are directly opposed to one another as one seeks to destroy whilst the other offers forgiveness and eternal life which is offered freely to any one at all who will accept it.

Okay, let me give a complete explanation of what you are talking about. You are actually connecting practice with religion in the wrong way. The religions that accept witchcraft are maybe 10. The people on this page are letting their own religion effect their response. Pagan, Wiccan, and Neo Pagan religions; along with ,unfortunately, Satanisim, Chrisitianity, and the people of the Jewish faith .
