Default I'm a bit new to the concept of witchcraft, will this work?

I'm reading about witchcraft, Im a teen living with my parents and I'll have a hard time getting a hold of most of these materials because I don't really want my parents to know I'm interested in Wicca/pagan/witchcraft type stuff for a number of reasons. What are some simple spells that a newbie could attempt with minimal materials, or tips in general? Currently I have everyday house hold items and some red candles. All serious, kind answers greatly appreciated
I know a bit about Wicca and paganism but not much about witchcraft. just to clear things up a bit.

New to witchcraft or new to Wicca/paganism in general? You don't have to do spells in order to be pagan or even Wiccan. It is more of a spiritual thing and, as such, no 'tools' are absolutely necessary.
Are you allowed books? Because I would get and read "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham as soon as you can. It will help point you in the right direction. There are also numerous articles you can read from this site: http://www.witchvox.com

If you want to make an 'altar' that isn't obvious, then you simple need the following - a small white candle and holder. A feather or other object you feel is 'air' related. Incense works if your parents allow incense. A small dish with water and some sea salt in it. A red candle can work to symbolize fire, a yellow candle for air, blue for water and green for earth, if you prefer to just use candles. A white candle is for deity, or a silver for goddess/gold for god candle also works.

There is nothing written 'in stone' about altars or 'necessary items'. Tools are nice if you can have them, but they are only tools. What's important is your will and your ability to focus your intent on what you want to accomplish.

no no no no no no no no no no no

You need to study a lot more before you do anything because you clearly have no idea what magic is.

And for the record Wicca is a religion not a fancy word for witch.

Wicca is a religion, it's not about spells (though Wiccans traditionally practice Witchcraft)

Pagan is a category that many religions fall under; the more modern ones, like Wicca or the revival/reconstruction of the older ones are generally called Noe-Pagan.

Witchcraft is the practice of magic.

Magic doesn't happen because of the candle, or because you act out what someone wrote down like a script. It takes years of study and mental discipline to become adept. Yes, you can use everyday household items... but you cannot replace the mental discipline or the eduction.

You don't have to be Wiccan or Pagan to practice Witchcraft, but you do have to study-- so if you can't have access to good books or teachers, you really can't worry about it now.

I would recommend dealing with the larger issue before you get into the details... that being that you'd rather not tell your parents.

Dishonesty is the quickest and most effective way to unravel any magi ck you do. In all seriousness, if you plan on performing spells in your house (or even elsewhere) you should be letting your parents know what's going on. How can you take your own work seriously if you're too afraid to talk about it with others? Shouting it from the mountaintop isn't recommended either, but until you're able to admit to the people who love you what you're doing, you're just playing pretend... at least that's what I've found.

Only do what you feel comfortable talking to your parents about... if you aren't comfortable talking to the people who love you about it, how can you feel comfortable doing it? Just think about it. If you can't ask your family to take it seriously (regardless of whether they do or not) then you can't be taking it seriously yourself. Start slow and ease into it... just start with basic concepts and talk to them, you don't have to use scary words, just let the know what's going on with you. It'll be worth it in the long run to develop a bond of trust with your parents.
