I believe, but only because I believe in demons and angels. And demons are commonly used in witchcraft. However, I've seen people using a circle manage to talk and get demons to come out, but I don't think it's actually the "Spells" and "witchcraft" that works, it's the person. Like... for instance, with or without witchcraft if you piss off a tainted soul enough it will make contact with you.

mostly no....but... the forces of evil use such practices, and opportunities, to deceive the gullible...... those who "practice" witchcraft and such are sometimes responded to by the forces of evil... and the "spell"... or whatever... will seem to work...... nothing good ultimately comes from such activities

Its sad that Wicca and satanic worship is witchcraft, Satan can kill through witches by telling them poisons to make, and they can make spells that when they do if Satan needs their soul it will cause demons to attack that person and try and do for the witch but as far as actual supernatural spells where one is changed by them or other wise is not true! Satan is death, the reward for being a witch for Satan is early death it always kills that which worships it through witch craft or Wicca, Satan is the it of many names the Muslim worships and one of its names is earth goddess! Misconception 1:
Witches are not real
This is obviously not true. The types of Witches that are portrayed in fictional books, or in on-screen entertainment, that possess supernatural powers, are green-skinned, fly on brooms or (as more modern Witches are portrayed) extremely beautiful, with awesome powers, do not exist. While many Witches are attractive in their own way, not all of them have 5 inch waists. But there are many Witches in the WORLD that practice the art of Witchcraft, albeit in a different manner and perhaps according to their ethnic background and ancestry.

Misconception 2:
Witches are all delusional
It would seem the ones who are suffering the delusion are the ones la belling us Witches as delusional, as the septics are the ones believing Witches are as they are portrayed in famous works of fiction, believing Witches to be possessing supernatural powers, or bent on evil and destruction. It would serve them well to take a long hard look in the mirror at who is delusional, as no actual practicing Witch would ever make a wild claim, like they can levitate, fly on a broom, or any other impossible act, that is KNOWN to be impossible. Witches KNOW that things of that nature are against certain natural laws and cannot be done.

Misconception 3:
Witches are all suffering teen aged angst and rebellious
If people would actually stop once in a while and look at those who really practice Witchcraft?they would see that numerous Witches (and I?ll include Wiccans in this) are actually of adult age. It?s the teenagers who get all the attention though, because it?s what they crave, when they come into a religion that has been glamorized by the media and popular works of fiction, yet know nothing of what it truly entails. Witches and Wiccans are indeed of all ages, and not all of them are suffering teen aged angst or rebellious, as many who come to the path, are well over the age of majority.

Misconception 4:
Witches are evil/worship the Devil
Witches are no more evil than anyone else in the world. The unfortunate truth is, it was rumor that began all this ?Witches are evil/worship the devil? nonsense?1) perhaps to get people to rely on the church for help or 2) because people feared what they saw when they stumbled upon a gathering in the forest and did?t understand what they saw.

Misconception 5:
All Witches are Wiccan
Wicca is a religion. Not all Witches are religious and therefore do not wish to follow the religious aspects of Wicca. Nor should they have to. Witchcraft is not a religion, but a practice; a craft; a set of skills. There is nothing religious about Witchcraft unless the individual Witch chooses to follow a particular religion (which could be just about any religion that is out there) or a particular deity (god). A religion is NOT a necessity to follow in order to practice Witchcraft.

Misconception 6:
All Witches adhere to the Wiccan Rede
To claim all Witches follow the Wiccan Rede is like saying that all Atheists follow the Ten Commandments. Witches do not follow a particular religion in order to practice, and therefore generally follow their own personally set ethical format or that of their particular tradition.

Misconception 7:
Witches possess "supernatural" powers
You know how many Witches only wish they could possess supernatural powers? They would have their massive mansions, fast, fancy cars, maids to do their work and fly on their brooms to save money on gas. Unfortunately life doesn?t work that way. There?s these little laws known as the laws of physics and the laws of the universe/nature that prevent us from working the impossible. Physics says we are unable to fly due to our physiology. If humans were meant to fly, we?d have wings, no?

Misconception 8:
Witches use spells to do the impossible
I don?t understand how people can realistically believe that we Witches can do the impossible. Yes, TV and movies make it appear that we can do all kinds of cool things like change our hair color by running our hands over it, or levitate by chanting a few words, but remember people?TV use this cool thing called CGI or Computer Generated Imagery. This is how they make Witches look like we do supernatural things.

I believe in it because there's tons of religions dedicated to it that have been around since about 20,000 BC, making it the FIRST religion. Witchcraft isn't evil. In fact, the word witch means "wise" in Old English. Therefore, Witchcraft is essentially "the craft of the wise." Just what IS Witchcraft? Something the average Boy Scout learns: how to survive off the land, which plants are poisonous and which are edible, that sort of thing. The problem is that Witchcraft/Paganism/Various other Earth-Based religions have been so distorted by false legends and religious persecution and propaganda that nobody knows the truth anymore. Take Christmas for example: people are really celebrating Yule, in which the Goddess gives birth to the God as the reborn sun, and in many traditions it is celebrated just before dawn to welcome his arrival. Sound familiar as the birth of Jesus? That's how Christianity came about. Though little evidence exists as to whether or not he actually existed, the story of Jesus is clouded by folklore from different cultures, giving the impression that he is a fictional character.

So, to wrap this up, I don't think Witchcraft is bad. There are plenty of creeds detailing how Witchcraft and magic is supposed to be used, all of which insist that any harmful/selfish wish that the user puts out will be returned to them three times, each time getting progressively worse. As to whether or not it works, nobody knows.

I believe in magic. Why the hell not? People act like they know %100 everything but the truth is we know so little. Magic could very well exist, or could very well have existed. I hold myself very open to the idea.

Yes, it works, but not in any Harry Potter/Charmed sort of way. If you are expecting that, you're in for a lot of disappointment and delusion.

In general, magi ck is an ongoing practice (consider it a science) that amplifies traits that already there. There is no one correct way of doing it (although there are infinite WRONG ways to do it), and you are not mythic ally imbued with greatness once you begin practice. If anything, you're becoming more human than you were before or thought possible, and that can be terrifying for many people.

Also, it's very important to work face-to-face with someone experienced who you trust. You can easily delude yourself into thinking every thing's going perfectly. A good mentor will not only educate, but kindly deflate your ego when it's needed.

Wow, there are a lot of hateful Christian answers here, but please pay no mind to them as they know nothing about witchcraft except for what their preacher tells them to believe. I doubt you'll find that ANY witch has died due to their practices, so they could not possibly know this as "fact". They are saying this to terrorize you into believing what they believe, but I suppose that is part of their religion, is to cut down other non-violent traditions to make way for their horrendously violent ones.

In fact, witchcraft is a true legitimate craft, one that I have been practicing for quite some time. It works with an open mind and a lot of knowledge. I started believing due to what I can only describe as a "call" from the Goddess, something that drew me to the path of Wicca and caused me to start being serious about my spirituality. I found that there was something missing in my life and with knowledge that gaping hole started to fill back up with joy and peace.

I truly believe in it because it found me, it has worked with me and for me for the greater good of my family and all of the people around me. It "works," but just like any good thing in life you must work for it.

@ Christian answers: Demons? No. Satan? No. There are some of us who call upon the archangels for guidance, however, so that's probably as close to your religion as we'll ever get.

It's real but be careful it can kill you.
witches can't do the imposable because their type of magic isn't strong enough.
changing the way physics affects things is fun, because it lets you walk on walls.
