Sadly, I'm not even sure if the Bible even mentions anything about witchcraft, but what I really want to know is if the Bible condones the burning/killing of witches or not, or if you know of any religions that DO condone the burning of people who are assumed to be witches.
No, Jesus brought about peace. We aren't to kill people. All we are to do as Christians is to try to guide someone from their evil ways by being a light.
The Old testament most assuredly tells the People of God to burn witches, in the book of Leviticus and numbers, so yes He knew that if He allowed that to spread through His children He would have long ago had to again destroy the earth Genesis 6:13 ....go to your yahoo search engine and type in "Word In Classic Painting" and the list of websites that pop up the site with the same phrase in its listing "Word In Classic Painting"" enter into it, and on the about page near the bottom are many proofs, even pictures of Satan/death/unclean spirits fought by Adam and Our Lord Jesus Christ! You must be of an age to visit this Epic gathering website where Gods mystery if now finished, and His code/key for the now end of premature aging and sickness Rev:21:4 is exposed, Gods enemy exposed for what it was/is merely an unclean spirit! King James was terrified of witches, he was sure they were going to kill him, real or not. Witchcraft was written into his version of the bible in exchange for permission to translate it.
Salem wasn't dick. Millions of "witches" were killed in Europe.
Yeah, the people in Salem were NUTS, religious fervor strikes again!!! Oh, forget about the commandment of "Thou Shalt NOT Kill" (cherry picking time!) these witches are bitches, lets kill 'em all!!!!! A great example of the insanity of Christianity.
As you might have imagined, the Bible is not entirely consistent on this. This is further complicated by translation problems. On the one hand, no less than King David and King Solomon were known to consult with sorcerers. On the other, there is at least one passage which states, 'you shall not suffer a witch to live.' Aside from the obvious contradiction, there is the problem that 'witch' is not clearly defined; the actual term is English, but is translated from a Hebrew word which might not have the same meaning.
The 'Malleus Malificarum' is almost wholly non-Biblical and therefore has almost no Scriptural validity.
A number of communities around the world have punishments for witchcraft, or at least certain kinds of witchcraft. As a general rule of thumb, such efforts are in proportion to how much people think witches can actually do. Where belief in magical powers is low (such as most of the US) witches are regarded as misguided or annoying, but not truly dangerous; thus even existing laws (such as a few left over from colonial times) are rarely if ever enforced.
Note: A number of states and localities enforce rules against fortune-telling and sometimes other kinds of magic - not because they think it works, but because they don't. It's considered a form of fraud.
scripture says everyone is born a sinner.
going by your thinking to burn witches, how about burning every person / sinner as well ... ?
no, scripture does not teach us to judge others but to look at ourselves, to look at our own ways.
you don't know the bible. Pick up a new Intel version and start reading ... you'll learn something.
