I'm pretty new at all this Witchcraft/Wicca stuff, but I've learned enough to tell you true witchcraft is NOT controlling another human, or manipulating pretty much anything at all. Witchcraft can be used to center yourself, to be one with mother nature, to bring peace and prosperity into your household, to attract a crush or true love, and so much else.
Besides spells and potions, gems, the natural elements, candles and scents, herbs, and other things can be used to help you attain whatever it is you are trying to do.
Good witches follow the Wiccan Rede, which includes "As Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will" and "Mind the Threefold Law you should,
Three times bad and three times good."
All that these mean is that do whatever you want with the power you have, as long as its not affecting someone else in a negative way. The Threefold Law is only that if you do something good for someone else, something three times better will happen to you. If you harm someone, it'll strike you back threefold (or three times as bad.)
If you'd like to learn more about witchcraft, or would like to try and practice it, I suggest trying to locate a nearby practitioner or coven, or read some books by Scott Cunningham. To start off, I'd suggest reading "Wicca and Witchcraft" by Denise Zimmerman and Katherine A. Gleason, and "Wicca: A Guide For The Solitary Practioner" by Scott Cunningham. However, the latter is more focused on the mindset of you going solo, and not joining a coven (Which I recommend, since I'm learning about this just now, and I have no nearby covens that can help me. Trust me, it isn't easy, but it sure is worth it!)
