Default if your kids try to convince you to convert to Hindu or Zoroastrianism, what does God

"If your brother, the son of your mother, your son or your daughter, the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, secretly entices you, saying, ?Let us go and serve other gods,? which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers, of the gods of the people which are all around you, near to you or far off from you, from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth, you shall not consent to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him; but you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. And you shall stone him with stones until he dies, because he sought to entice you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. So all Israel shall hear and fear, and not again do such wickedness as this among you." Deut 13:6-11

Your brother . . . your son or daughter . . . your wife . . . your friend: If any of these would try to convince you to worship other gods, they were not only to be rejected (you shall not consent to him or listen to him), they are to be KILLED BY YOU (you shall surely kill him)

Do you think the courts would sympathize with you for the reason you beat your kid to death with a rock? "God commands it!, your honor!"

"worship me or I'll kill you horribly" ...seems to be Yahweh's mantra "and dint you dare talk to any other gods!!"

(thankfully, he ain't real)

...why would anyone respect a creature like this?

gee... i wonder where people learn all this violence?!!
you know what we need to do? ... we need to hang the ten commandments up in the schools!
space monkey: "God cannot and will not tolerate idolatry"

that's your take on it? ...what about the fact that he appeared to be a psycho-god? ..."genocides". how may deities do you have to use a plural spelling for 'genocide'?

Death to Followers of Other Religions

Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB)

Kill Nonbelievers

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

Zoroastrianism and Hindu have vast differences between them.

Zoroasterianism is perhaps one of the earliest monotheistic religions, obviously older than Christianity and Judaism.

I will note (and not just by religious scholars, but historians as well), the three wise men are believed to be followers of Zoroaster and that perhaps their beliefs were not all that dissimilar from Judaism (obviously they are very different, but I mean relative to polytheistic, class based religions, such as Hinduism).

Zoroaster: One God, Ahura Mazda, the supreme being, the Uncreated Creator, humanity must fight for truth, order, good; fight against chaos, falsehood, disorder, and evil. This conflict exist throughout the entire universe, and humanity has a role to play.

The followers of Zoroastrianism even believed in a savior that would bring about the end of the conflict and cause all souls to return to the source, Ahura Mazda, and time will end as a great renovation of the Universe will take place.

Is any of this sounding familiar?

God wants you to do what God has always wanted you to do: to be like Him...to be God.

That was old times. Not for today.

Jesus came, and with his death and resurrection- totally "tore down" the old temple and all it's "religion" and "rebuilt" the new.

The old is gone, the new has come. Jesus ushered in the new.

Times were harsh back then. We just have to deal with it. When a nation or people lose their culture- they lose themselves. God knows this full well, so he gave those instructions to Israel, so they would become a people, a nation, under Yaweh. It was all a picture, also, of how God cannot and will not tolerate idolatry.
