Default About Greek religion and Zoroastrianism?

What impact did they have in ancient life?

How did they contribute to conflict ?both amongst themselves and among each other?

If anyone knows of any good books on Greek religion and/or Zoroastrianism, than please let me know. Particularly any on Questia.com. Thanks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoroastrianism This link will bring to pages of information on Zoroastrianism. I didn't see any reference to Greeks. Mostly it's Middle Eastern mainly Iran.

When I first saw your question there were no answers. There is such a lag in Yahoo. The other answer linking to Wikipeda is good. Wikipeda is a great source of information.

Greek religion and Zoroastrianism were very different. The Greeks worshiped a multitude of different gods and goddesses, to whom they prayed and made sacrifices in the hope of winning their favor. Zorastrianism is a dualist, religion, Zoroaster is the good creator god, but he is opposed by the Destructive Spirit, Angra Mainyu, whose nature is violent and destructive.

The conquest of Persia by Alexander the Great had a disastrous effect on Zorastrianism. In Persian history he is known as 'Alexander the Cursed', because he killed priests, destroyed many Zorastrian manuscripts, and burned down the royal palace of Persopolis. He said he wanted to unite the cultures of Persia and Greece, but he and his successors, the Seleucids, are remembered as the foreign interlopers who intruded into Persian life.
