Default why has Zoroastrianism been so popular that many major eastern and western religions

Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Catholicism etc.

don't all of them have their roots in Zoroastrianism?

There are many similarities between Judaism and Zoroastrianism: they are both monotheistic, believe in angels, heaven and hell, and so on. They also have different scriptures and different histories. Judaism accepts Satan to be the loyal assistant of God with the role of testing the righteousness of people, while Zoroastrianism says that Angra Mainyu is an evil adversary. Judaism looks forward to the arrival of the Messiah, but Zoroastrianism teaches that the coming savior, the Saoshyant, will be born of a virgin and lead humanity in the last battle against evil.

I don't know if I would classify it as among the most ancient religions as I would cite as among the earliest remaining influential spiritual movements.

Zoroastrianism was influenced by the Jews in Exile.

Israel in Persia predate Zoroastrianism by several hundred years.

(We know that Jews kept their religion in exile, including the so-called "lost tribes" sent to Elam and Media, because in Acts 2, Jews are mentioned as coming to Jerusalem for the holiday of Pentecost.)

I'm a Christian and I have a Zoroastrian friend. I looked into it a while ago and was surprised at the similarities (as you have stated). I see Z as the forerunner of God's relationship with man via the Jews. As the predecessor of Judaism and Christianity.

As for Islam - well, there's no accounting for that! Mohammed borrowed from a lot of stuff when he wrote the Quran.

"Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Catholicism etc."

Catholicism IS Christianity!!!!! (At least, the original denomination of it)

Judaism may have come under Zoroastrian influence during their Babylonian captivity.

It should be very popular as this is the first time I read about it.

So I e-mailed this word to 10 of my friends who are scholars in different professional disciplines. One Lawyer with LLM, 2 Physicians with MRCP,One Eye surgeon, 2 Accountants with MBA, 2 Psychiatrists, One scientist with PhD on chemistry and one Dental Surgeon.

No one have heard of it.( But one doctor informed me his friend from Iran had learned about it when he was a child. Now it is prohibited to teach about that in schools)
