Default Im having a hard time letting go of this. (Zoroastrianism claims to prove evolution)?

http://www.avesta.org/zfaq.html
Read down till you hit Evolution.
Compelling huh?
Im an agnostic wanting so bad to turn to an atheist.
If you search in the Pahlavi dictionary, there is no word for evolution. but there is word for substance and change. http://webapps.uni-koeln.de/tamil/ LOOK FOR YOURSELF.
The editor who edited the Denkard Book 4 (Where the evolution SENTENCE is mentioned, was completed in 1900 in India). Darwin's evolution of species was completed 1859 giving sufficient time to reach India through colonial trade etc. The editor probably would have known about the latest craze of evolution.
What PISSES ME OFF IS THIS WHITE GUY WHO RUNS THE SITE Joseph Peterson FOOLISHLY JUST PUTS THE EVOLUTION THING IN THE FAQ. as far as i know all the other sites are run by proper Zoroastrians(iranians/indians) and this guy blatantly just puts it up there without a care in the world. I sent him an email but he wont reply.

Is it possible that the Zoroastrian God gave them knowledge about evolution in the 10Th century or do you think its coincidence/mistranslation/doesn't mean evolution.

They have a whole book which is about Zoroastrian cosmology called the Buddhism but that could be written by God's adversary. You see, in this religion they solved the problem of evil by stating in their scriptures that god is not omnipotent but omniscient.

How do i think critically and forget about it? Im always thinking, even if all the other books dint make that much sense, what if this sentence is right thus the whole religion is right?

Please help me.. fellow agnostic

First, that passage doesn't "prove" anything. That passage simply states that they believe evolution to be true. There is no empirical proof in that statement.

Shortly after Darwin documented his theory, every major religion was forced to take a stance on the subject as it basically superseded every creation story.

Hey, you're an agnostic; that's a sensible tentative conclusion to have at any given time. Why do you feel a need to become atheist? I am myself, but you shouldn't *want* to be there; you should go that way if you feel the evidence points you in that direction.

Zoroastrianism is as silly a religion as any other really; if it hints at (or even flat-out states) evolution, that isn't evidence that Zoroastrianism is accurate, just that maybe it got one part of reality right. Worldwide, most Christians accept evolution; evolution doesn't equal atheism!

That FAQ does not claim that Zoroastrianism proves evolution. It states what Zoroastrianism "has to say" on the subject. Period.

Translations are not an exact thing. one person might legitimately translate a word to "evolution," while another uses "change." In the quote on the page you cite, the sentence would convey the same general meaning regardless which word was used.

I think you are looking for a reason to rant. You are accusing that cite of making claims that it does not actually make. The fact that you complain about the author's race does nothing to help your credibility.

That doesn't prove anything. Evolution is science, while religions are mythologies. And as far as Zoroastrianism is concerned (I'm familiar with the Avesta and the Bundahish), I suggest considering it as a philosophy rather than religion.

If you're interested in a detailed explanation of how Zoroastrianism solves the problem of evil and the mystery behind the existence of the material Universe (both of which the Abrahamic religions fail to explain rationally), then the following article is for you:
