The religion of the Parsees, founded long ago by Zoroaster (a.k.a. Zarathustra) in Persia. Scriptures = the Zend Avesta. Very influential in the history of religions, including contributions to the AngelicoGUnd eschatology of Judaism and Christianity.

The Magi who purportedly visited Jesus in his youth have been considered linked with a branch of Zoroastrianism.

The Parsis (centered in Bombay) are one major group, the other are the Iranians (centered in Kerman and Yazd). It's an Iranian religion, so the Indian group migrated from Iran (fleeing Islam).

Mary Boyce has written several good books about Zoroastrianism. In brief they follow the prophet Zoroaster (=Zarathustra--not to be confused with Nietzsche's character by that name), recognize the Avesta as their holy book, and worship Ahura Mazda ("Wise Lord") as their high god. There are a number of angels, and many rituals and laws. Zoroastrians are known for their fire temples, sky burials, and for the expression "good thoughts, words, and deeds."
